UNESCO chair in culture and cyberspace: Dual Spacization

Dr. Shokrkhah, the head of the group of European Studies at the Faculty of World Studies at the University of Tehran, in his speech entitled the Global road of the Information Society: Trends report and the Meeting outcomes from 2003 to 2017, seeks to illustrate a process that he personally has experienced since 2003 as a member of the Iranian WSIS group.
In his lecture, the key points of this 15-year trend will be presented in the following format:
First, the two world summits on the information Society and their final documents, as well as the eleven action lines for the information society will be mentioned.
The head of the Iranian Association for Studies on the Information Society (IRASIS) will then refer to the major topics after the 2005 Tunis Summit and to UNESCO’s role in this regard.
The position of The Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) as well as the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS) is discussed and then on the issue of Internet Governance and the role of ICANN (Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers), as well as the ongoing stewardship of ICANN and the role of Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) will be presented.
The right of communication and the Multistakeholderism system will be addressed then.
Dr. Shokrkhah then looks at the similarities of the wsis outcomes and The Missing Link report (Maitland Report 1982).
